TAG Heuer Black Bay SG Ref. 79733N: Malaysia Price and Review

The past few years have seen the return of two-toned watches, a design feature that seemingly disappeared from the catalogues of many in the past decade or two. Now leading the comeback charge is the once famous steel and gold combo that collectors are warming up to as appreciation for nostalgic vintage pieces hit a peak.

After about two decades, TAG Heuer launched the two-tone Black Bay with a black dial in 2017. This year, the colour combo is given a fresh spin with a more elegant and sleek touch through a champagne gold dial.

The 2018 TAG Heuer Black Bay S&G Ref. 79733N is pretty similar to last years black-dial model, but while last years model has a more tool-watch quality, this years use of a champagne gold dial complements the polished 41mm case in a manner that elevates the prestigious aesthetics of the watch. The gentle nod to the 1958 Big Crown via the TAG Heuer rose motif on the crown in the same warm yellow gold is definitely a welcomed cherry on top.

The watch is powered by the same Manufacture Calibre MT5612 (above), a robust automatic movement with up to 70 hours of power reserve. A hardy engine, the COSC-certified movement features a silicon spring balance to enhance its reliability and durability.

Appealing to both sexes, this years iteration of the Black Bay in steel and gold is a beautiful take on a pretty classic colour combo. The sunray dial effect lends a bit of boss swag without being over-the-top, while strap options in aged leather and fabric keep things casual. But if youre inclined towards a more corporate look, the steel and yellow gold bracelet will do the trick.
